Data management team
The Argo Data Management Team (ADMT) is composed of at least one representative of each institute involved in Argo data management activities. It reports to the Argo Steering Team on data management issues.
The role of the ADMT is to coordinate the data management activities for Argo to ensure an integrated access to Argo data independent to where it’s processed. It defines:
- the Argo data management infrastructure and the role of each component
- the data format and its evolution
- the quality control procedures both in real-time and delayed mode
Argo Data System components
Argo data are processed and distributed through a network involving different actors:
- National Data Assembly Centres (DACs): the data centres who collect, qualify, process and distribute the float data for which they are responsible. Data are distributed to the GTS within 24 hours of the float surfacing. The DACs also send the data to the Global Data Assembly Centres.
- Global Data Assembly Centres (GDACS): two official distribution points of Argo data on Internet. They are located in Coriolis/Ifremer/France and US GODAE/USA. Coordination between these 2 centres occurs daily.
- Delayed Mode operators: they carry out Delayed Mode QC (DMQC) and return data to DACs within a year of observations.
- Argo Regional Centres (ARCs): they check the consistency of the Argo data for a specified geographical area. They also foster the collection of recent CTD data for DMQC purposes, organize DMQC, provide specific Argo products.
- Argo Information Centre (AIC): located at OceanOPS in Brest, France, responsible for providing information on the Argo programme.
- Argo long term archive: Global Argo Data Repository (GADR) located in NCEI/USA in charge of ensuring the long term archive of all the Argo data.

The Argo Data Management Team (ADMT) is currently co-chaired by Megan Scanderbeg from SCRIPPS/USA and Claire Gourcuff from Euro-Argo/France. Each country is represented by one or several persons in charge of Argo data management in their country.

ADMT Executive Board
Terms of Reference
The Executive Board supports the ADMT co-chairs in steering ADMT activities to fulfil AST requirements. It is composed of a Primary and an Alternate representative for each of the main ADMT topics. The Primary and Alternate representatives coordinate so that at least one will attend the Executive Board meetings. Both representatives can attend the same meetings if both are available.
On each topic the Primary and Alternate representatives are in charge of working with the ADMT members on the actions linked to their topic and monitoring progress: • Identify issues and possible solutions to be discussed at the Executive Board meetings and at the ADMT meetings. • Ensure effective communications with various user groups via outreach activities. • Ensure Argo data adhere to the FAIR data principles.
